State Rep. Sheila Klinker has pushed legislation improving all levels of education, prenatal substance abuse initiatives, First Steps for children under 3 years of age, preschool disability services for children 3 to 5, guardianship issues, veterans issues, protection and advocacy issues, as well as most recently authoring legislation to create Lifelong Learning Accounts for low-income working adults pursuing education or job training.
INSSWA’s 2023 Legislator of the Year is Representative Sheila Klinker. Our organization communicated to Representative Klinker's office that we are awarding her our INSSWA 2023 Legislator of the Year Award. She has responded that she is honored to receive this award and we will be meeting with her in October to present the award. We recognize and thank Representative Klinker for continuing to work hard for the issues that are important to School Social Workers. Her educational advocacy directly impacts the students and families we work with every day.
