to our 2016 Indiana

School Social Worker of the Year

The committee is excited to announce the 2016 School Social Worker of the Year is Linda Kates.  Linda just retired from Wayne Township Schools after being the School Social Worker there for five years.  Prior to working for Wayne Township, she was the School Social Worker at Danville School Corporation for twenty-three years.  Linda has held several different positions within INSSWA during her career.  She has been a Regional Representative, Board Secretary, and on the conference committee.  We would like to thank her for her service and devotion to School Social Work over the past several years.  She has made a difference in the lives of countless families and colleagues. It won’t take long after meeting Linda to see how much her work means to her and the families she has served.  Linda was the first School Social Worker in both districts she worked in and this has paved the way for future School Social Workers in the field.  Linda was described by her Principal as, “compassionate, respectful, professional, and someone who always shows integrity.”  They went on to say, “It’s not always what Linda does, but how she does it.”  We think this is evident in the work and programs she has founded and coordinated over the years.  Her legacy will continue on through these programs, because of her hard work and strong social work skills.  It is apparent that Linda is very deserving of this honor.
